Three Mile Island Nuclear Station, Unit I (TMI-1)

Operating License No. DPR-50 Docket No. 50-289 LER 80-004/0lT-0 Attached please find Licensee Event Report (LER) 80-004/01T concerning the potential for exceeding code allowable stress in Decay Heat Removal System piping associated witn valves DH-V1 and DH-V2.

This event was initially reported to you for the DH-V2 piping via telecon on March 6, 1980 and in a telegram dated March 7, 1980.

In a subsequent phone call to D. R. Havercamp on March 11, 1980, we informed him that the event was also reportable for DH-V1.

We told him that we would not issue an additional telegram for DH-V1 and would expand the 14 day report to include the piping for both valves. He agreed with this approach.

This event is considered reportable under the requirements of Technical Specification 6.9.2.A(9).
