ISSUANCE OF RENEWED FACILITY OPERATING LICENSE NO. NPF-38 FOR WATERFORD STEAM ELECTRIC STATION, UNIT 3 (CAC NOS. MF7492 AND MF7493)
Dear Mr. Dinelli:
The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC or the staff) has issued Renewed Facility Operating License No. NPF-38 for Waterford Steam Electric Station, Unit 3 (WF3). The NRC issued the renewed facility operating license based on its review of your application dated March 23, 2016, and supplemented by letters submitted to the NRC through June 26, 2018.
Renewed Facility Operating License No. NPF-38 for WF3 expires at midnight on December 18, 2044.
The NRC documented its safety review and technical basis for issuing the renewed facility operating license for WF3 in Safety Evaluation Report Related to the License Renewal of Waterford Steam Electric Station, Unit 3 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML18228A668). The NRC described the results of the environmental review related to the issuance of the renewed license in the record of decision (Enclosure 3 to this letter) and in the supplemental environmental impact statement published November 20, 2018, as Supplement 59, Regarding Waterford Steam Electric Station, Unit 3, Final Report, (ADAMS Accession No. ML18323A103) to NUREG-1437, Generic Environmental Impact Statement for License Renewal of Nuclear Plants.
