PALISADES SIMULA TOR FOUR YEAR TEST REPORT AND SCHEDULE FOR PERFORMANCE TESTING FOR THE NEXT FOUR-YEAR PERIOD This report is submitted in accordance with the requirements of 10 CFR 55.45(b)(5),

"Certification of Simulation Facilities," as it applies to the Palisades simulator, which*

was first certified on June 11, 1990. It describes the simulator performance testing completed and the performance tests planned over the next four years. This report provides a list and brief description of each uncorrected deficiency associated with the simulator performance testing during the past four years and the date by which each deficiency will be corrected. Also provided is the schedule for the conduct of approximately 25% of the simulator performance tes~s per year for the third four-year period. In addition, the report describes upgrades to the hardware and software implemented at Palisades.

Thermohydraulic and Boron Density feedback were expanded to 2448 core nodes in place of feedback to 12 core regions in late 1994.

6.0 PLANT PROCESS COMPUTER UPGRADE The Plant Process. Computer (PPC) was replaced during REFOUT 95 in the plant. The PPC on the simulator.was replaced with a "stimulated" version ofthe plant PPC running the same software on DEC V AXStations. A V AXStation 4000 Model 90 serves as the PPC Host computer and communicates with the simulation computer via an Ethernet. A separate Ethernet is u_sed by the PPC Host to communicate with the four operator interface stations in the simulator

  • control room.
