Units 1,2, and 3 Docket Nos. STN 50-528/529/530 Revised Improved Technical Specification (ITS) Pages for Safety Injection Tank (SIT) Amendment Request In Reference 1, as supplemented by Reference 2, APS requested changes to the PVNGS Technical Specifications (TS) to extend the allowed outage times for the safety injection tanks (SITs), low pressure safety injection (LPSI) subtrains, and the emergency diesel generators (EDGs). The request was submitted as part of a collaborative effort of participating Combustion Engineering Owners Group (GEOG) members as a risk-informed licensing application. The Reference 1 amendment request submittal included marked-up pages of the PVNGS current Technical Specifications (CTS).

Nuclear Regulatory Commission ATTN: Document Control Desk Revised ITS Pages for SIT Amendment Request Page 2 The NRC Staff has informed APS that the requested SIT TS changes may be approved for PVNGS in the near future. On May 20, 1998, the NRC approved the amendments for PVNGS that authorize conversion from CTS to the Improved Technical Specifications (ITS) (Amendment 117). The conversion to ITS must be implemented by September 15, 1998. To enable the NRC to issue the SIT amendment in both CTS format (in the event that the SIT amendment is approved and implemented before ITS implementation) and in ITS format, the appropriate marked-up and retyped ITS pages are enclosed that reflect the SIT CTS changes requested in Reference 1. Marked-up ITS Bases pages are also enclosed that reflect the SIT CTS Bases changes requested in Reference 1.

No commitments are being made to the NRC by this letter.
