Units 1, 2, and 3 Docket Nos. STN 50-528/529/530 Control Room Radio Communication Backup Batteries In the above referenced letter, Arizona Public Service Company (APS) described its intention to install a battery backup power source for the new control room radio system by the fifth operating cycle of Unit 1. Because resources were dedicated to refueling outage work, the battery backup units will not be installed until September 15, 1995. In the event of a station blackout, at least two forms of communication (the EPABX Telephone System and the sound powered phones) will still be available to provide all required communication. This delay is considered acceptable since the new radio system being installed, of which the backup batteries are a part, will only supplement the already adequate communication provided by the sound powered phones and the EPABX systems.
