UNITED STATES NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION WASHINGTON, D. C. 20555 SAFETY EVALUATION BY THE OFFICE OF NUCLEAR REACTOR REGULATION SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA EDISON COMPANY SAN ONOFRE NUCLEAR GENERATING STATION, UNIT NO. 1 DOCKET NO. 50-206 OFFSITE DOSE CALCULATION MANUAL
1.0 INTRODUCTION
On August 27, 1984, the staff issued Amendment No. 79 to the Provisional Operating License (DPR-13) for the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station, Unit No. 1. The amendment incorporated the Radiological Effluent Technical Specifications (RETS) into the San Onofre 1 Technical Specifications (TSs). Section 6.17 of the TSs referenced an Offsite Dose Calculation Manual (ODCM) and prescribed the methods for changing it.
2.0 EVALUATION By letter dated December 12, 1983 and modified by submittals dated August 1, 1984 and October 15, 1984, Southern California Edison Company provided copies of the ODCM.
The staff has reviewed the ODCM as modified through Revision 2 dated September 20, 1984 (submitted by letter dated October 15, 1984) and found that it uses documented and approved methods that are consistent with current NRC guidelines (issued January 1982). Thus, the ODCM is found to be acceptable.
3.0 CONCLUSION
S The San Onofre 1 ODCM is approved for use with San Onofre 1 Technical Specification 6.17.
