"At approximately 1033 EST on January 27th, 2014, a live sturgeon was removed from the Salem Unit 1 Circulating Water System (CWS) Intake trash racks at the Salem Generating Station. The sturgeon was confirmed by a site biological expert to be an Atlantic sturgeon which is an "endangered" species. Atlantic sturgeons are federally listed as "endangered" species under the Endangered Species Act of 1973, as amended. Nuclear Environmental Affairs has made a determination that this is a 4-hr report to the NRC under RAL 11.8.2.a."

"At approximately 1050 EST the sturgeon was released back into the Delaware River following identification.

"A report was made to the National Marine Fisheries at 1109 EST and the NJDEP Division of Fish & Wildlife at 1108 EST, concerning the Atlantic sturgeon by Environmental Licensing."

Notified R1DO (Burritt) and Endangered Species Group via email.
