Dear Emily,

Thank you for the correspondence regarding the above referenced project. Claiborne County is within the Choctaw Nation historic area of interest. Since the vacinity does contain some significant sites and Mounds, as well as other sites whose eligibility has not been determined, we concur that there should be no adverse effects to any known historic properties as long as the sites that are eligible or have not had eligibility determined and consulted on with the Tribes, are protected from any ground disturbing activity. As the operation is located in an area that is of general historic interest to the Tribe, we request that our office contacted immediately if any Native American cultural materials are encountered. This stipulation should be placed in any plans for contractors to be aware of. Please feel free to contact me with any further questions or concerns.
