UNIMPLEMENTED UNRESOLVED SAFETY ISSUES AT SAN ONOFRE NUCLEAR GENERATING STATION, UNIT NO. 1 (TAC NO. 74538)

On October 19, 1989 the staff issued Generic Letter (GL) 89-21 which requested information concerning the status of implementation of unresolved safety issues (USIs) at San Onofre Unit 1. Based on your response to this GL, dated December 26, 1989, our review of Agency records and discussions between your staff and the NRC Project Manager, the NRC staff has compiled the enclosed list representing our assessment of USI implementation at your facility. These results were presented to the Commission during a meeting on February 14, 1990.

The enclosure to this letter presents the staff's understanding of the current status of all unimplemented USIs for San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station, Unit 1. The staff strongly encourages your effort to complete the remaining unimplemented USIs.
