REVISED REVIEW SCHEDULE REGARDING THE APPLICATION FROM FLORIDA POWER CORPORATION FOR RENEWAL OF THE OPERATING LICENSE FOR CRYSTAL RIVER UNIT 3 NUCLEAR GENERATING PLANT (TAC NO. ME0278)

Dear Mr. Franke:

By letter dated December 16, 2008, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC or the staff) received the Florida Power Corporation application for renewal of Operating License No.

DPR-72 for Crystal River Unit 3 Nuclear Generating Plant (CR-3), in accordance with Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations Section 54.17. By letter dated May 22. 2009 (ADAMS Accession No. ML091200415), the staff issued a proposed schedule for the review of the CR-3 license renewal application.

By letter dated January 25, 2010, the NRC issued a revised schedule for the CR-3 license renewal application due to the ongoing analysis of the gap in the containment structure. The January 25,2010, letter noted that "The enclosed schedule may be modified if the resolution of the containment issue does not support the proposed schedule." Because the repair of the containment is ongoing, the staff is again revising the license renewal schedule. The enclosed schedule contains the revised milestone dates.
