For your information The preliminary work on the fault indicated it is a strike-slip fault, which usually does not cause significant submarine terrain change. Therefore, even it is proven to be a fault, tsunami threat is relatively small compared to a reverse fault. However, we have to wait until March next year for their final report to know their conclusion.
Hosgri fault is an offshore fault located 5 km from the power plant. It is a strike-slip fault (65%)
but with some reverse component (35%), It is much longer and therefore, can produce bigger earthquakes (7.5) in comparison to this potential one (6.5, remember the energy difference between the two is 30 times approximately). A strike-slip fault needs some special topographic configuration to trigger water volume change to cause a sizable tsunami but not a reverse fault.
