Indian Point Unit 3 is operating at 100% reactor power and has been on-line for 119 days.
New Joint Information Center Operational On January 30 the Joint News Center for the radiological emergency planning for the Indian Point site was transferred from the Joint News Center facility located at the White Plains airport to the Joint Informat on Center located in the Hudson Valley Transportation Management Center in Hawthorne, N.Y. The new JIC will be used for tomorrow's emergency plan drill.
The new JIC will function differently than the old JNC. This Joint Information Center functions in a virtual environment. For media briefings, the counties will participate via teleconference.
Emergency Alert System messages, press releases from the four counties, the State and Entergy will be issued via a new web site.
All EAS messages and press releases will be available on the site. Also, these messages and release will be automatically distributed to requesting media outlets and elected officials.
Tritium Investigation-Construction Continues on Phase 2 Wells As crews finish drilling the last two phase 1 monitoring wells, construction has already begun on the phase two wells. The phase 1 wells were selected to help understand ground water conditions near the IP2 spent fuel pool. The last two wells in phase 1 (MW-36 and MW-37) are located in the IP2 turbine building on the east and west side of the discharge canal. MW-36 is ready for sampling; MW-37 will be drilled this week.
New well construction has begun on phase 2, which will help hydrologists understand ground water movement on the site. Wells in phase 2 are primarily located near Unit 1 and Unit 3. (See attached map)
