We have two questions that we would like to discuss in a telecon with you. This e-mail does not formally request additional information, and does not convey a formal staff position. Thanks.

1. What indications are specified in procedure for operators to determine whether the motor-operated feedwater isolation valve should be closed? Is the outer feedwater check valve position indication currently used for this purpose? If so, what procedural changes would be made?

2. Please confirm or correct the staff's interpretation of the discussion of the IST testing of the outer feedwater check valves: The staff reviewer has interpreted that the normal cessation of feedwater flow during the shutdown progression is currently and is also proposed to be credited with the IST reverse-flow full-stroke valve disc exercise, and that verification of valve closure after this exercise, which is currently through the disc-position indication, is proposed to be through the Type C LLRT, which is normally performed at each refueling outage. Also, is the proposed IST method for the outer feedwater check valves analolgous to the current IST method for the inner feedwater check valves?
