Dear Commissioners and Staff:

In accordance with 10 CFR 72.80 (g), Pacific Gas and Electric Company is notifying the Nuclear Regulatory Commission of its intent to begin the loading of Diablo Canyon Power Plant spent fuel into a storage cask under the Diablo Canyon Independent Spent Fuel Storage Installation Materials License No. SNM-251 1.

Loading activities are scheduled to commence on June 1, 2009.

There are no new or revised regulatory commitments in this report.
