This refers to the meeting held on September 12, 1985, between Mr. W. D. Shafer and Mr. G. J. Diederich of our respective staffs.
The intent of this meeting was to discuss the measures that LaSall.e management has initiated as a result of the weaknesses identified earlier this year in the area of Radiological Controls (reference Inspection Reports 50-373/85014; 50-374/85014).
We appreciate your staff's prompt action to address these issues and want to encourage you to continue this positive performance. We will monitor these efforts in our future insp'ections.
To assure ourselves that the corrective measures already in place will remain effective and that newly identified weaknesses will be promptly addressed by your staff, we intend to implement augmented inspections of your radiological controls and chemistry program commencing with the start of the first refueling outage to be conducted on LaSalle Unit-1 during the fall of this year.
We will discuss our increased inspection activities with your site personnel in the near future.
