Meeting Sumary

The findings and conclusions of the SALP Board are documented in Inspection

Reports No. 50-373/85001 and No. 50-374/85001. They were discussed with the

licensee on February 18, 1986, at the NRC Region III office in Glen Ellyn,

llinois. The licensee's regulatory performance was presented in each

functional area and it was noted that LaSalle had four Category 3 ratings

including all three functional areas directly involved with operations with

two of the four showing a declining trend.

Furthermore, one Category 2 rating

(Radiological Controls) also showed a declining trend. There were two

Category 1 ratings, in Fire Protection Housekeeping and Startup Testing for

Unit 2.

The meeting also was used to discuss the licensee's corrective actions to

resolve concerns stated in the NRC 10 CFR 50.54(f) letter.

It was noted that

licensee actions in response to that letter also would address the problems

identified through the SALP process. The NRC and the licensee agreed to meet

monthly to discuss the progress in implementing the corrective actions.

While this meeting was primarily a discussion between the licensee and NRC it

was open to members of the public as observers.
