SUBJECT:

MEETING ANNOUNCEMENT - PUBLIC MEETING - REGULATORY CONFERENCE - McGUIRE NUCLEAR STATION - DOCKET NOS. 50-369, 50-370

Dear Mr. Peterson:

This letter confirms the telephone conversation between Mr. Ken Ash of your staff and me on October 1, 2007, concerning a Regulatory Conference, being conducted at your request, which has been scheduled for October 25, 2007, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. (EDT). The meeting notice, which provides additional details, is enclosed. The purpose of the Regulatory Conference is to discuss the risk significance of the inspection finding documented in Inspection Report 05000369,370/2007008. This finding concerns the apparent failure to take adequate corrective actions for an identified nonconformance involving the discovery that the emergency core cooling system (ECCS) cold leg injection throttle valves had the potential for clogging during high pressure recirculation because their narrow plug-to-seat clearances were smaller than the ECCS sump screen openings.

In accordance with 10 CFR 2.390 of the NRC's "Rules of Practice," a copy of this letter and its enclosure will be available electronically for public inspection in the NRC Public Document Room (PDR) or from the Publicly Available Records (PARS) component of NRC's Agencywide Document Access and Management System (ADAMS). ADAMS is accessible from the NRC Web site at http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/adams.html (the Public Electronic Reading Room).

Should you have any questions concerning this conference, please contact me at 404-562-4647.

Sincerely,

/RA/
