Are_~? __ Insp_ected:. Routine, unannounced inspection of the radiation protection
- program including:
organization, management controls and training, audits and appraisals, external exposure control, internal exposure control, control of radioactive materials, contamination, and surveys, and maintaining occt..:pational exposures_ALARA (IP 83750).
Also, reviewed were open items from past identified concerns (83750).
- Results:
During this inspection, one violation was identified for a failure tO-control, calibrate and operationally check health physics instrumentation (Section 8.a).
A violation was identified for a failure to control vendor manuals (Section 8.a). A non-cited violation was identified for a failure to implement adequate corrective actions (Section 8.b).
Weaknesses ~ere identified in the areas of management review of personnel qualifications (Section 4.a); training weaknesses associated with poor radiological work practices (Section 4.b); inadequacies of the radiation work permit system (Section 9); methodologies utilized to assess skin dose due to hot pafticle exposures (Section 6.b);.and the poor performance of contract radiation protection technicians (Sectiori 4.c, 5.a, and 8.b).
