JUN 2 2 082 Docket No. 50-254 Docket No. 50-265 Commonwealth Edison Company A'ITN:
Mr. Cordell Reed Vice President Post Office Box 767 Chicago, IL 60690 Gentlemen:
Thank you for your letter dated May 27, 1982, informing us of the steps you have taken to correct the noncompliance which we brought to your attention in Inspection Reports No. 50-254/82-07 and No. 50-265/82-07 forwarded by our letter dated April 15, 1982. We will examine these matters during a sub-sequent inspection.
With respect to Example 1 of the noncompliance, your Revision 19 to Topical Report CE-1-A, Quality Assurance Program, replaced your commitment to RG 1.8, Rev. 2, with a commitment to ANSI N45.2.9-1974 (Draft 15, Rev. O, 4/74).
Based on this and additional review, you are no longer required to provide
"the equivalent protection of a NFPA Class A, four hour minimum rated facil-ity" for your quality assurance records. Therefore, we withdraw the violation.
This protection is considered a guideline.
With respect to Example 2, it is properly classified to a Level V noncompliance since it is the only remaining example. We will examine this matter during a subsequent inspection.
Your cooperation with us is appreciated.
Sincerely, h/ cfo WM&
