Inspection on December 20-21,1978 (Report No. 50-245/78-40)
Areas Inspected:
Routine, unannounced inspection by regional based inspector of the licensee's inservice inspection examination documentation associated with Class 1, System Pressure boundary piping welds / components.
The inspection involved 23 in-?ector-hours by one NRC regional based inspector.
Results:
No items of noncompliance were identified in the area inspected.

2.
Inservice Inspection (ISI) Data Review and Evaluation a.
Scope of ISI Interval The inspector reviewed the ISI Program established for the current inspection interval (10 year) to ascertain whether the data are consistent with examination requirements delineated in Section XI of the ASME Code.
The review included the following Documents:

Inservice Inspection Ten Year Program for Northeast Utilities Millstone Point, Unit No.1 Examination Schedule

The inspector found that the examinations scheduled were evenly distributed over the ten year interval.
Additionally, the Documents identify the weld / components which have been examined and those remaining to be examined during subsequent refueling outages.
No items of noncompliance or deviations were identified.
b.
Nondestructive Examination (NDE) Data Review The inspector selected documentation associated with the following welds for audit to ascertain completeness of the 1978 data package:

The inspector found the documents to contain examination results including:
(1) method and extent of examination; (2) calibration technique; (3) data evaluation and dispositioning of results; (4) equipment / instrumentation calibration; and, (5) inspection material / personnel certifications.
In addition to the above, the inspector's review included, but was not limited, to the follow parameters:
