C. D. Pederson, Chief, Reactor Support Programs Branch M. C. Schumacher, Chief, Radiological Controls Section 1 Meeting Summary Licensee representatives discussed specific ttems from the recent NRC SALP (Systematic.Assessment of Licensee' Performance} 11 report, with emphasis* on corporate.and station management expect~tions for adherence to radiation protection standards arid on worker attitudes and behaviors towards and attention to radiation protection rule The licensee stated that a performance improvement strategy inplace for other areas at Dresden is being used to improve radiological control The presentation indicated a good interdepartmental approach with strong corporate and station management suppor The licensee also briefly described recently implemented plans to collocate staff health physics personnel and the radiation protection technicians, as means of improving department communications ~nd efficiency. Currently the two groups are in separate building,
During a tour of the plant, improvemehts were rioted in outside areas including little accumulation of trash and asphalt surfacing of gravel roadway Radwaste building roof areas which were formerly a mess-had been clearied up and proper postings restore Inside plant ar~~s had alsp been significantly improved in appearance:with noticeably less storage of equipment in general access areas of the reactor and turbine
.building At the conclusion of the meeting, the NRC representatives acknowledged the licensee's efforts and indicat~d that a similar meeting after the upcoming refueling outage might be appropriate to re~iew the success of the planned improvement *
