Hasonry Walls License Condition - Draft Report

Dear Mr. Knighton:

PGandE met with the NRC Staff on November 5, 1985 in Bethesda, Maryland to discuss structural acceptance criteria related to the analysis of masonry walls.

At the meeting the NRC Staff requested copies of the PGandE draft report titled "Diablo Canyon Power Plant Units 1

and 2 - Yerification of Diablo Canyon Energy Balance Technique Using SONGS-1 Masonry Mall Tests."

The study contained in the draft repor t uses results of masonry wall panel tests performed by Southern California Edison Company (SCE) for San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station Unit 1 and an analysis technique developed by Bechtel Power Corporation (BPC).

The draft report includes information which is considered proprietary to SCE and BPC.

In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790, PGandE ik filing an application and supporting affidavits (Enclosure 1) for withholding from public. disclosure the draft report included as Enclosure 2.

The application and affidavits provide the basis on which the information should be withheld from public disclosure by the NRC Staff.

Three copies of the proprietary draft report are provided for Staff review, and three copies of the nonproprietary version are included as Enclosure 3.

Kindly acknowledge receipt of this material on the enclosed copy of this letter and return it in the enclosed addressed envelope.
