In accordance with Technical Specification (TS) 5.6.4 for the Brunswick Steam Electric Plant (BSEP), Unit Nos. 1 and 2, Progress Energy Carolinas, Inc. is submitting the enclosed Monthly Operating Reports for April 2003. These reports are being submitted to the NRC by the 15th day of the month following the calendar month covered by the reports, as specified in TS 5.6.4.

2 030404 F 32.9 A 3 Prior to synchronizing to the grid after the refueling outage, Unit No. 2 received an unplanned automatic scram due to problems with the ElectroHydraulic Control system. Corrective actions are documented in AR 89687.

SUMMARY

On April 4, 2003, Unit 2 received an unplanned automatic scram from approximately 22% of rated thermal power. Event description and corrective actions will be documented in LER 2-03-003.
