Victor Dricks, 817-200-1128 NRC Names New Senior Resident Inspector at River Bend Nuclear Power Plant The Nuclear Regulatory Commission has selected Rayomand Kumana as the new senior resident inspector at the River Bend nuclear power plant in St. Francisville, La.

Kumana joined the NRCs Region IV office in Arlington, Texas, in 2009 as a project engineer. He spent the past six years as a resident inspector at the Comanche Peak nuclear power plant in Glen Rose, Texas. Prior to joining the NRC, Kumana served in the Navy as a submarine officer. He holds a bachelors degree in mathematics and political science from Rice University in Houston, Texas, and a masters degree in environmental management from the University of Houston at Clear Lake.

Each U.S. commercial nuclear power plant site has at least two NRC resident inspectors.

Kumana joins resident inspector Brian Parks at River Bend. They serve as the agencys eyes and ears at the facility, conducting inspections, monitoring significant work projects, and interacting with plant workers and the public. Resident inspectors are assigned to a site for up to seven years.
