Mr. DiFrancesco, In Table 5 on Page 5 of 6 of Attachment 2 in its letter to the NRC dated July 14, 2010 (i.e., Agencywide Documents and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML101960011), Exelon Generation Company, LLC (EGC) documented its assessment of the change in risk. This assessment confirmed that the impacts to Core Damage Frequency and Large Early Release Frequency continue to meet the acceptance guidelines found in NRC Regulatory Guide 1.174, "An Approach for Using Probabilistic Risk Assessment in Risk-Informed Decisions on Plant-Specific Changes to the Licensing Basis," and Electric Power Research Institute Technical Report 112657, "Revised Risk-Informed Inservice Inspection Evaluation Procedure."

Mr. Mathews, By letter dated December 30, 2009, as supplemented by letter dated July 14, 2010 (Agencywide Documents and Management System ((ADAMS) Accession Nos. ML093650139 and ML101960011, respectively), Exelon Generation Company, LLC (EGC), the licensee for the Clinton Power Station (CPS), Unit No. 1, submitted relief requests (RR) I3R-01 through I3R-05.

The Probabilistic Risk Assessment Licensing Branch have reviewed the information provided and determined that in order to complete its evaluation, additional information may be required. The request for additional information related to I3R-01 is provided below.

REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION RELIEF REQUEST I3R-01 CLINTON POWER STATION (CPS)

EXELON GENERATION COMPANY, LLC DOCKET NO.: 50-461 By letter dated December 30, 2009, as supplemented by letter dated July 14, 2010, Exelon Generation Company, LLC submitted for staff review and approval ISI Program Relief Request I3R-01, which requests an alternative risk-informed inservice inspection (RI-ISI) selection and examination criteria for Category B-F, B-J, C-F-1 and C-F-2 pressure retaining piping welds for CPS. To complete its review, the staff requests the following additional information.

I3R-01 1. Page 3 of Attachment 1 in the letter dated December 30, 2009, states that the change in risk was reassessed for the Third Interval RI-ISI program. Please confirm that the results of this risk impact assessment continue to meet the acceptance guidelines in RG 1.174 and EPRI TR-112657.
