Narrative

Report for LER 50-321/1981-0,16, R1 On 3-4-81, with Unit I shutdown for a refueling / torus modific-ation outage, LLRTs of inboard main steam i solation valves B21-F022A, B,

and C were performed per procedure HNP-1-3952, " Primary Containment Periodic Type B - and Type C Leakage Tests".

On 3-6-81, the LLRT i

coordinator reviewed the data sheets, and it was determined that the 1

valves were leaking in excess of the 11.5 scfh per valve limit of Tech Specs 4.7. A.2. h (test volumes would not pressurize).

This is a i

repetitive occurrence - refer to LER 50-366/1981-001.

There were no effects on public health or safety.

An investigation conducted to determine the

cause

of the valves leaking showed that some debris had collected on the valve's seats.

The valves were lapped and reseated and then successfully retested-prior to startup (as left leakage of less than'4 scfh for B21-F022A; 4 scfh for B21-F022B; and 4.9 scfh for B21-F022C).

The unit is now in. full compliance with the requirements of Tech Specs 4.7. A.2.h and no further reporting is required.
