50-321 NL-22-0325 U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission ATTN: Document Control Desk Washington, D. C. 20555-0001 Edwin I. Hatch Nuclear Plant Unit 1 Withdrawal of Emergency License Amendment Request for Technical Specification 3.7.2 Regarding One-Time Extension of Completion Time for Plant Service Water (PSW) Pump Inoperable Ladies and Gentlemen:

In letter NL-22-0316, dated April 30, 2022, Southern Nuclear Operating Company (SNC) submitted a request for a proposed emergency license amendment to the Technical Specifications (TS) for Hatch Nuclear Plant (HNP) Unit 1 renewed facility operating license DPR-57. The proposed amendment would have revised TS 3.7.2, Plant Service Water (PSW)

System and Ultimate Heat Sink (UHS), Required Actions for Condition A, One PSW pump inoperable, to allow a one-time increase in the Completion Time from 30 days to 45 days.

Subsequent to the submittal, HNP personnel were able to complete the necessary repairs of the Unit 1 1A PSW Pump and return it to Operable condition within the original Completion Time and thus there is no longer a need for an extension of the Completion Time. Therefore, SNC hereby withdraws the subject request for an emergency license amendment for HNP Unit 1 TS 3.7.2.

In accordance with 10 CFR 50.91, SNC is notifying the State of Georgia of the withdrawal of this license amendment request by transmitting a copy of this letter to the designated State Official.

This letter contains no regulatory commitments. If you have any questions, please contact Ryan Joyce at 205-992-6468.

U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission NL-22-0325 Page 2 of 2 I declare under penalty of perjury that the foregoing is true and correct.

Executed on May 3, 2022.
