Grand Gulf Nuclear Station, Unit 1 (Grand Gulf) submitted reference 1 letter to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission on January 20, 2016. This letter established three commitments related to maintaining the Boiling Water Reactor Owners ' Group (BWROG) Severe Accident Management Guidelines (SAMGs). Grand Gulf has implemented the BWROG SAMGs revision 3, and the commitment has been closed.

Grand Gulf continues to consider the site SAMGs within plant configuration management processes in order to ensure that the SAMGs reflect changes to the facility over time, in accordance with the associated commitment.

This letter is to inform the NRC that there is a need to extend Grand Gulfs commitment to update the SAMGs to future revisions of the BWROG SAM Gs within 2 refueling outages (RF) or 3 years of the publication date of the guidlelines, whichever is longer. The original due date to incorporate revision 4 to the BWROG SAMGs was the end of RF23. In Reference 2, Grand Gulf extended this due date to July 31, 2022. Grand Gulf requires additional time to complete operator training in the new SAMGs revision. Therefore, Grand Gulf is extending the due date to incorporate revision 4 of the BWROG SAMGs to September 30, 2022.
