The Nuclear Regulatory Commission has selected Evan Robinson as the new resident inspector at the Oconee nuclear power plant. The plant, operated by Duke Energy, is located on Lake Keowee in Seneca, South Carolina.

Robinson joined the NRC in March 2022 as a project engineer through the Resident Inspector Development Program in the Region II office in Atlanta.

Before joining the NRC, he served as a civilian instructor at the Navy Prototype training facility in Charleston, South Carolina, under the Naval Nuclear Laboratory. Robinson earned a bachelor s degree in materials science and engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology.

Evan brings a unique blend of expertise to our team of talented inspectors at Oconee. He ll play a vital role in ensuring the plant meets the NRCs rigorous safety standards. Im confident he will uphold these high standards and continue our unwavering commitment to protecting people and the environment, said NRC Region II Administrator Laura Dudes.

Robinson joins Senior Resident Inspector Jared Nadel and Resident Inspector Nick Smalley at Oconee. Each U.S. commercial nuclear power plant has at least two NRC resident inspectors who monitor day-to-day operations at the plant. They serve as the agencys eyes and ears at the facility, conducting inspections, monitoring significant projects, and interacting with plant workers and the public.
