University of Virginia -Docket No.'50-062.

Charlottesville, Virginia license No. R During an NRC inspection conducted on August 20-23, 1990, a violation of NRC requirements was identified. In accordance with .the "Gaaeral Statement- of Policy and Procedure for NRC Enforcement Actions," 10 CFR Part 2, Appendix-C

(1990),- the violation is listed below:

Technical. Specification 6.2.3(6) requires a Reactor Safety Connittee audit of operational records at least once per year.

Contrary to the abc"e, the University of Virginia Reactor (UVAR) Log was not audited in the period from October 1985 to January 1990. The UVAR Log-is~- the : primary, record of the operational activities condccted, in or controlled from UVAR control room.

This is a Severity Level IV violation (Supplement I).

Alth'ough Section 2.201 requires you to submit to this office, within 20 days of-

your receipt' of this Notice,- a written statement of explanation, we note that this: violation had been corrected and those actions were reviewed during this

. inspection. . Therefore, no response with respect to this matter is required.
