The inspector reviewed selected aspects of:

-e? the Radiation Protection Program '

-e' radiological signs and posting-e routine surveys'and ' monitoring e

,

' dosimetry records

. b. - Observations and Findinas The radiation protection program had not changed since the last inspection and

was followed during the licensee's preparations to ship LEU fuel off sit Current copies of NRC Form 3, " Notice to Employees," were posted in accordance with 10 CFR.19.11. Caution signs, postings, and controls to radiation areas were as required in 10 CFR 20, Subpart J. Licensee personnel abided by the precautions that were stipulated for access to the radiation area ,

Use of dosimeters and exit frisking practices were in accordance with radiation protection requirements. The licensee used a National Voluntary Laboratory Accreditation Program (NVLAP)-accredited vendor to process dosimetr Radiological exposure records showed that occupational doses and doses to the public were within 10 CFR Part 20 limitation Radiation monitoring and survey activities during the fuel transfer operations were observed and were being conducted as required by the program and associated procedure Conclusions -

e ' radioactive matsals shipping procedures radioactive materials transfer and shipping surveys e radioactive materials transportation and transfer records b .- Observations and Findinas The preparations for shipping LEU fuel from the facility were observed. The approved procedure for shipping the fuel was followed and proper precautions were taken as required. Records showed that the radioactive material was being shipped in accordance with licensee requirements and the appropriate Certificate of Compliance (CoC).- The program for radioactive material transport was found to be consistent with license requirement l The shipping documents for the fuel shipment were also reviewed. Records {

showed that the radioisotope types and quantities were calculated and dose rates ware measured. These records also showed that transportation of the radioactive ]

.

materials was in accordance with DOT and NRC requirement Conclusions I

The program for transportation of radioactive materials. satisfied NRC requirement . : FOLLOW-UP ON ITEMS OF NONCOMPLIANCE (92702)
