22 RIDGE ROAD {py3 f.,ljG 7 M{ 9*. 08 GREENBELT, MARYLAND 20770 RULES & D.a b.w. ,, .CH US NRC 7p7 Chief, Rules and Directives Branch Division of Administrative Services p 3d U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission NRC:

WE, the Greenbelt Greens insist that the NRC consider not only.a no-action alternative in which the current licenses would continue until their expiration in 2014 and 2016 respectively, but we also demand a complete analysis of the environmental impacts of closing these reactors now or by the year 2000.

The Greens will not be satisfied with an Environ-mental Impact Statement on.the extension of the Calvert Cliffs nuclear power station's licenses unless it also includes site-specific analysis of the followitig generic issues, we list two.

Waste:

20 years will increse both the waste in temporary holding at the reactor site, and in long term storage ,

past the proposed license extension. Total waste  !

to be stored in this area, temporarily and for a longer interim period should be assessed. '

Aging:all reactors are aging evidence shows.

The impact statement must state the probabilities

-of increased accidents and incident occurrence as well as changes in the consequences of these due to-  !

fatigue of components throughout the system especially in a deregulated utility marl:et. .

I Site specific issue must tal:e into consideration the condition of the pressure vessels of the Calvert Cliffs reactor in 10 years from now and not grant or allow license renewal.

jD We want this reactor to be decommissioned.

Sincerely, f V Bob Auerbach, Chairman 9908190242 990904 a ff A Oo PDR ADOCK 05000317  : 7& , /O
