ENGINEERING EVALUATION N0.: AE0D/E309 THE POTENTIAL FOR WATER HAMMER DURING THE RESTART OF RHR PUMPS AT BWR NUCLEAR POWER PLANTS Forwarded herewith is the subject Engineering Evaluation Report for your consideration. The report was peer reviewed in its preliminary form since it was formerly thought that it would be published as a case study. The comments which were received were addressed and incorporated into the final report attached here. The report contains a few modest recommendations in-volving plant procedures and operator training. As you may recall 0NRR is currently in the final stages of resolution of Unresolved Safety Issue A-1, Water Hammer. Accordingly you may wish to transmit the report to ONRR for their information and possible action within the USI A-1 task.
