Advanced Nuclear Fuels Corocration ( ANF) Fuel Performance Through 1987, a total of 12,058 ANF fuel assemblies comprising 1,531,649 fuel rods had been irradiated. Of these, 6852 were BWR fuel assemblies and 5,206 were PWR's. Table 1 summarizes the assembly distribution, fuel rod performance, and gadolinia fuel experience of ANF fuel in both BWR's and PWR's  ;

as of December 31, 1987. Figure 1 highlights the exposure distribution of ANF fuel rods and assemblies as of that time. Maximum exposure levels in both PWRs and BWRs were reached by fuel in two high burnup programs. One PWR assembly reached a burnup of 49.98 GWd/MTU after 4 cycles of irradiation at Tihange-1 in Belgium. A peak burnup for BWR fuel of 41.1 GWd/MTV was achieved by a group of Extended Burnup Demonstration fuel rods irradiated at-Big Rock Point.

Through 1987, ANF fuel integrity based on failures from fuel-related or L unknown causes remained at better than 99.995%.
