SUMMARY

OF OPERATING EXPERIENCES Highlights

- Vermont Yankee operated at 82.4% of rated thermal power for the month.

Gross electrical generation was 316654 MWH or 78.8% of design electrical capacity.

Operating Summary The following is a chronological description of plant operations including other pertinent items of interest for the month:

At the beginning of the reporting period, the plant was operating at 99.8% of rated thermal power.

820815 At 1030 hrs., while returning to full power after completing control rod and main turbine surveillance, the reactor scrammed.

(See Unit Shutdowns and Power Reductions).

820816 At 0301 hrs., the reactor was critical.

820816 At 0843 hrs., the generator was phased with the grid.

820827 At 2100 hrs., a manual shutdown was initiated for plant maintenance. (See Unit Shutdowns & Power Reductions).

820827 At 2337 hrs., the generator was removed from the grid.

820827 At 2348 hrs., the reactor was scrammed.

820831 At 1557 hrs., the reactor was critical.

At the had of the reporting period the plant was in the process of starting up.
