- ;,vs for October 31 Indian Point Energy Center Daily Status Report October 31, 2005 Operational Status Indian Point Unit 2 is operating at 100% and has been online 331 days.
Indian Point Unit 3 is operating at 100% reactor power and has been on-line for 27 days. Operations crews are performing routine tests, maintenance and surveillances.
Entergy is continuing the investigation into a leak in the IP2 spent fuel pool. Experts in hydrology and ground water modeling have been hired to assist in the investigation.
The NRC is continuing its special inspection on the spent fuel pool issue. The inspection began on September 22 and is on-going.
NRC Announces Increased Oversight at Indian Point The Nuclear Regulatory Commission announced additional oversight inspections at Indian Point Energy Center. Through these specialized inspections, the NRC will oversee the site's efforts and progress in addressing the leakage from the Unit 2 spent fuel pool and the reliability of the siren system.
The NRC intends to assess IPEC's spent fuel pool investigation and remediation efforts, as well as the efforts to improve the reliability of the siren system in the communities surrounding Indian Point. The NRC has an on-going special inspection into the IP2 spent fuel pool leak.
Siren reliability issues will be addressed during the upgrade to the siren system in response to the new requirerrient for backup power that was included in the Energy Policy Act of 2005. The NRC will hold a public meeting to discuss the siren issues on Nov. 16 BM_401 54Updated Dry Cask Storage Factsheets Available Entergy has produced an updated informational brochure, available in electronic and hardcopy format that explains the details of dry cask storage.
