Docket No. 50-443-LR RE: Update Regarding the Schedule for the Site-Specific Environmental Impact Statement and Safety Evaluation Report

Dear Administrative Judges:

This letter responds to the Boards March 11, 2013, Order directing the Staff to provide an update on the status of its safety and environmental reviews in this proceeding. At this time, the Staff expects to issue a supplement to its draft supplemental environmental impact statement in April of 2013 and a final supplemental environmental impact statement in December of 2013. In light of the Staffs ongoing review of the Alkali-Silica Reaction at Seabrook, the Staff currently does not have an estimate for when it will complete its safety review The Staff apologizes to the Board for the delay in delivering this update. Due to personnel changes, these updates were not brought to counsels attention until after receipt of the Boards March 11, 2013 Order. Per the Boards instructions, the Staff will provide schedule updates in its monthly hearing file updates going forward. In addition, if the Staff makes any changes to the schedule between monthly updates, the Staff will immediately inform the Board.

Sincerely, Signed (electronically) by Maxwell C. Smith Counsel for NRC Staff
