GEH Vallecitos partial site release Date: Wednesday, September 04, 2019 2:52:00 PM

Ron, In December 2018 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS)

Accession No. ML18348A425) GEH requested a partial release of the VNC site from regulatory controls under the provisions for power reactors in 10 CFR 50.83 (this is for the VBWR and EVESR reactor licenses). The purpose for the release of this land is to allow for widening of Highway 84 (Vallecitos Road) on the southern border of the site by State and local transportation authorities. The area to be released is a thin section of land bordering the highway and a wider area at the entrance to the facility so that it can be reconfigured for a stop-light interchange. Diagrams of the areas to be released can be found in the supplemental information supplied by GEH in February 2019 (ADAMS No.

ML19057A466). NRC did an independent verification survey of the area to be release and have confirmed that it is non-impacted radiologically. The report of the NRC verification survey is in ADAMS at ML19239A118.

NRC held a public meeting on the requested release in Dublin, CA on March 28, 2019. The presentations given at the public meeting and a transcript are in ADAMS at:

GEH presentation (ML19239A081)

NRC licensing staff presentation (ML19239A099)

Meeting transcript (ML19239A043)

We are currently preparing an approval of the request as well as an Environmental Assessment and Finding of No Significant Impact. Let me know if you have any questions, concerns, or comments.
