Vallecitos GETR
- John, You and I discussed interference removal in the EVESR containment building last March. That project is going well. We intend to finish up on our current scope of work this Fall. Based on that success, we are intending to continue with our liabilities reduction projects. Specifically, we plan to do GETR (TR-1, Docket 50-70) interference removal similar to what we have done on both VBWR and EVESR.
Here is the key points in the GETR license that GE-H feels is most relevant to the project.
In the Technical Specifications contained in Appendix A:
A. Facility
- 2. Principal Activities "The principal activities carried on within the plant area shall be the possession of the reactor facility and the removal and disposition of components other than the reactor pressure vessel."
We do not see any licensing impediments to removing the bulk of the components from the interior of the reactor containment building. Our plans include piping, pumps, valves, control systems, some walkways and non-structural shielding.
I could be more clear by describing what we are leaving. We are not planning to remove the reactor pressure vessel and its supporting structures.
Thank you for taking a look at this and commenting on our understanding of the license. We intend to start by early Fall and complete the current scope of activities in 2010.
