Quarterly Data Report SHNPP Seismic Monitoring Program October 1, 1982 December 31, 1982 Carolina Power 6 Light Company has completed another quarter of operation of its seismic monitoring program at the Searon Harris Nuclear Power Plant site near New Hill, North Carolina. During this period a total of 59 cultural events were recorded with an S-P of less than 5 seconds. No local earthquakes were detected.

Of these 59 events, 51 were confirmed as being explosions by the responsible companies or agencies. Of the remaining 8 events, all are suspected of being explosions. Seven of these displayed the signature and arrival pattern of other previously recorded events that were confirmed to be explosions. The remaining event was the only one to be detected on a weekend or holiday and was recorded as follows:

GMT S-P Probable Date Day at Station 2 at Station 2 Source 11-21-82 Sunday 20: 01: 28. 4 4. 85 U. S ~ Army This event was determined to have occurred in the vicinity of the Ft. Bragg Military Reservation. The Army is known to have conducted weapons testing in this area on many occasions in the past.
