.U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Nashington, DC 20555 Attention Docketing and Service Branch Re: Docket No. 50-275, OL-DPR-80 Docket No. 50-323, OL-DPR-82 Diablo Canyon Units 1 and 2 Comments on Proposed Rulemaking - Acceptance of Products Purchased for Nuclear Power Plants
Dear Mr. Chilk:
The Nuclear Regulatory Commission published proposed rulemsking 54 FR 9229 regarding acceptance of products purchased for use in nuclear power plant structures, systems, and components. This rulemaking addresses concerns related to fraudulent products, counterfeit or substandard components being utilized in commercial nuclear power plants.
PG&E believes that the existing regulations, codes and standards, in conjunction with the ongoing industry procurement improvement activities j and initiatives (such as Commercial Grade Dedication programs), will ;
provide a comprehensive mechanism that minimizes concerns telated to fratdulent products.
Therefore, PG&E does not support the proposed rule. However, PG&E does support the efforts being taken by the Nuclear Management and Resources Council (NUMARC) and endorses their position and comments on this issue.
Kindly acknowledge receipt of this material on the enclosed copy of this letter and return it in the enclosed addressed envelope.
