TAILS #: 31420-2011 -TA-0097'This is in response to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission's October 28, 2010 Federal Register Notice of Intent to Prepare an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) and to conduct the scoping process for Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station, Unit 1: FirstEnergy Nuclear Operating Company. (FENOC) has submitted an application for renewal of Facility Operating License NO. NPF-003 for an additional 20 "years of operation at David-Besse Nuclear Power Station, Unit 1, located in'Oak Harbor, Ottawa County, Ohio.: The EIS is being prepared as part of this application process., There are no Federal wilderness areas or designated critical habitat within the vicinity of the proposed" site's.D`avis-Besse consists of 954 acres, of which approximately 733 acres are marshland that is leased to.theU'.S. government as part of the Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge.In a-letter dated December 16, 2009, we provided comments to FENOC on the proposed 20-year renewal of the operating license for Davis-Besse.

At this time we have no additional comments.These comments have been prepared under the authority of the Fish and Wildlife Coordination Act (48 Stat. 401, as amended; 16 U.S.C, 661 et seq.), the Endangered Species Act of 1973 (ESA), as amended, and are consistent with'the intent of the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 and the U. S.
