NRC POSTPONES OCTOBER 18 MEETING WITH HADDAM NECK The Nuclear Regulatory Commission staff has agreed to postpone a conference with Northeast Utilities (NU) on numerous apparent violations at the Haddam Neck nuclear plant. The ,

predecisional enforcement conference had been scheduled for this  !

Friday, October 18. It will be rescheduled in the future. l NU asked the NRC to postpone the meeting in light of the announcement last week that it is unlikely the plant will be returned to power operation. A final decision on continued operation is. expected in the next few weeks.

The NRC staff agreed to the postponement because a l discussion of corrective actions is an integral part of the L predecisional enforcement conference. NU's corrective actions I and actions to prevent recurrence will vary depending on the  !

future of the plant.
