NRC POSTPONES OCTOBER 18 MEETING WITH HADDAM NECK The Nuclear Regulatory Commission staff has agreed to postpone a conference with Northeast Utilities (NU) on numerous apparent violations at the Haddam Neck nuclear plant. The predecisional enforcement conference had been scheduled for this Friday, October 18.

It will be rescheduled in the future.

NU asked the NRC to postpone the meeting in light of the announcement last week that it is unlikely the plant will be returned to power operation. A final decision on continued operation is expected in the next few weeks.

The NRC staff agreed to the postponement because a discussion of corrective actions is an integral part of the predecisional enforcement conference. NU's corrective actions and actions to prevent recurrence will vary depending on the future of the plant.
