..EC.status.report.for.Feb.6.2007...Page221 February 6, 2007 IP3 Remains at 100% Following NUE Declaration Indian Point Unit 3 is operating at 100% reactor power and has been on-line for 200 days. Yesterday morning at 7:07, plant operators declared a Notice of Unusual Event following a drop in river water level in the Service Water Bays. This drop in water level was caused by debris and ice that had collected on the trash racks of the IP3 service water bays. Service water is used to cool plant equipment such as the circulating water pumps. The plant exited the NUE at 10:14 a.m.The Nuclear Regulatory Commission was notified of the NUE as was New York State and the four counties in the Emergency Planning Zone.All systems operated normally.

Divers were sent into the river to check the condition of the trash racks and remove any debris.Unit 2 is operating at 100% and has been on-line for 68 days Planning continues for rtJ~efueling outage at Unit 3. During the outage, approximatelyJf the fuel assemblies will be replaced with new fuel bundles. Othlr projects include a modification to the containment sump, eddy current inspection of the steam generator tubes, reactor vessel inspections and various preventive maintenance items on'pumps, valves and motors. The outage will begin in March.Groundwater Investigation Update* The investigation team drilled into the side wall of the Unit 1 Containment Spray Sump to collect water samples for analysis.

These samples were split with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and the New York State DEC.* Entergy has begun the dye tracer test to help determine groundwater flow and direction.

The test was delayed slightly due to an issue with the packer assembly in one of the wells (MW-32) near the IP2 spent fuel pool building.

That issue has been resolved.

The test is v~A Eu~g2ne Cobey -IPEC. status report forFeb 6 2007/ Page 3,i scheduled to run until April.* Sample results have been obtained from MW-62, the last monitoring well installed on the riverfront.

The sample contained 40 pCi/L of Cs-1 37. This result is consistent with the positive results for Cs-1 37 found in other monitoring wells in the vicinity.* Fish samples will be taken from the Hudson River in the spring.The fish samples will be taken near Indian Point, a control point near Newburg and farther up the river. The samples will be analyzed for Sr-90. Previous samples have shown Sr-90 in the fish, which have been in the range of background levels. The exact aquatic species and exact location of the upstream sample is being determined by state biologists.
