In accordance with 10 CFR 54.21 (d), an FSAR supplement was provided with the application for renewed operating licenses. Table 18-1 of the FSAR supplement for NAPS Units 1 and 2 contained twenty-nine commitments that were to be completed prior to the period of extended operation. The period of extended operation is the period of 20 years beyond the expiration date of each unit's original operating license.
For North Anna Unit 1, the period of extended operation is from April 2, 2018 to April 1, 2038 and for North Anna Unit 2, from August 22, 2020 to August 21, 2040. Completion of these commitments prior to the period of extended operation was also specified in Renewed Facility Operating License Conditions 2.F(1) for NAPS 1 and NAPS 2 issued on March 20, 2003 (ML030710581).
Specifically, Renewed Facility Operating License Condition 2.F(1) for NAPS 1 and NAPS 2 states, "The Updated Final Safety Analysis Report supplement submitted pursuant to 10 CFR 54.21 (d), as revised on July 25, October 1, November 4, and December 2, 2002, describes certain future inspection activities be completed before the period of extended operation. The licensee shall complete these activities no later than April 1, 2018 (Unit 1) I August 21, 2020 (Unit 2), and shall notify the NRC in writing when implementation of these activities is complete and can be verified by NRC inspection."
Pursuant to Renewed Facility Operating License Condition 2.F(1) for NAPS 1 and NAPS 2, Dominion Energy Virginia is providing written notification that the twenty-nine commitments listed in Table 18-1 of the NAPS UFSAR have been completed and are ready for verification by NRC inspection.
