BordllJll Manager Licensing April 23, 1997 U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission ATTN: Document Control Desk Washington, DC 20555 DOCKET 50-255 - LICENSE DPR PALISADES PLANT REVISED SUBMITTAL DATE FOR 1998 REFUELING OUTAGE-RELATED AMENDMENTS In a meeting held at NRC headquarters on January 16, 1997, Consumers Energy Company informed the NRC that Technical Specification (TS) amendment requests which may be necessary to support the 1998 refueling outage, scheduled to commence in May 1998, would be submitted by May 1997 for NRC review and approval. These plans were documented by the NRC in meeting minutes issued .bY letter dated February 21, 1997.

Since that meeting*, we have reevaluated our schedule for the upcoming refueling outage and the.

preparation milestones. We have taken into account the schedule impact resulting from the forced outages which occurred shortly after our recent refueling outage. Although the projected start date for our 1998 refueling outage remains May 1998, we have rescheduled out planned submittal for the 1998 refueling outage".'related TS amendment requests and* other requests requiring NRC approval from prior to May 1997 to prior to July 4, 1997.

We request that NRC review submitted 1998 refueling outage- related amendment requests and other requests requiring NRC approval by January 1998 to allow time for implementation prior to the beginning of the refueling outage. We will keep you apprised of any changes to our planned submittal date.
