Delay in Issuance of the LaSalle TSTF-505 LAR (L-2020-LLA-0018)
By {{letter dated|date=January 31, 2020|text=letter dated January 31, 2020}} (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System Accession No. ML20035E577), Exelon Generation Company, LLC submitted a license amendment request for the LaSalle County Station, Units 1 and 2. The proposed amendment would modify Technical Specifications (TS) requirements to permit the use of Risk Informed Completion Times in accordance with TSTF-505, Revision 2, "Provide Risk-Informed Extended Completion Times - RITSTF Initiative 4b." On March 6, 2020, the NRC staff notified you that your request had been accepted for review, and that the NRC staff estimated its review would be completed by March 2021. During routine interactions with the assigned project manager on March 17,2021, you were informed of a potential delay in schedule for the review of the license amendment request.
The purpose of this email is to inform you that the NRC will not complete its review by March 31 2021, and to provide you with the NRCs revised completion schedule. The review will not be completed by March 31 2021 because of the time needed for the resolution of a challenging technical issue related to the defense-in-depth aspect for some TS sections identified during the review of your application, during the audit, and during the NRC staffs review of the licensees responses to the requests for additional information (RAIs). The NRC staff expects to complete its review by June 30, 2021. This estimate could change due to several factors such as additional RAI(s) and an unanticipated addition of scope to the review. If there are emergent complexities or challenges in our review that would result in a change to the established completion schedule, the reasons for the changes, along with a revised schedule, will be communicated during routine interactions with the assigned project manager. This change in the completion schedule was discussed with the Deputy Director for the Division of Operating Reactor Licensing, who approved the schedule change.

By letter dated January 31, 2020 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System Accession No.
