The NRC conducts a very extensive oversight and inspection program at each nuclear power plant to assure that if a plant is operating, it is doing so safely. If we concluded a plant was not operating safely, we would order it shut down. |

The majority of that inspection effort is carried out by our resident inspectors who work at the plant on a daily basis. They are supplemented by specialist inspectors from the Regional Office.
