ADVANCED POWER REACTOR 1400 DESIGN CERTIFICATION APPLICATION - SAFETY EVALUATION WITH NO OPEN ITEMS FOR CHAPTER 18, HUMAN FACTORS ENGINEERING By letter dated December 23, 2014, Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) and Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Co (KHNP), Ltd. submitted an application for a design certification of the Advanced Power Reactor 1400 (APR1400) Standard Design. On March 10, 2017, KHNP submitted a subsequent letter transmitting Revision 1 to the APR1400 design certification application.
 
Based on our review of the application, the staff is providing the Advisory Committee on Reactor Safeguards (ACRS) its safety evaluation (SE) with no open items for Chapter 18, Human Factors Engineering (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS)
By letter dated December 23, 2014, Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) and Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Co (KHNP), Ltd. submitted an application for a design certification of the Advanced Power Reactor 1400 (APR1400) Standard Design. On March 10, 2017, KHNP submitted a subsequent letter transmitting Revision 1 to the APR1400 design certification application.  
Accession No. ML17276B714). Unless otherwise stated in the SE, the staffs review was based on Revision 1 of the application. The SE is being provided to support a meeting of the Subcommittee of the ACRS scheduled for January 24-25, 2018. The ACRS Full Committee meeting will be held after the Subcommittee meeting.
 
A review of the SE for any information exempt from public disclosure has not yet been performed. The NRC will withhold the SE from public disclosure for ten business days to allow KHNP the opportunity to perform a proprietary and factual content review. Therefore, the staff requests that the ACRS withhold the SE from public disclosure until the information has been released publicly in the Agencywide Documents Access and Management System.
